Are you my type? Blood types and live organ donation




One of the first testing factors that affect Live Donor matching is blood type compatibility. Many people are unsure of their blood type and don't know how to go about getting the information. A recent article by CNN explains ways to do so-and although the information is American the directions are the same here in Canada.

In case you are wondering, my blood type is O negative. My blood type is the universal donor, which means it's highly sought after and can make finding a match a bit more difficult. Why? Because O Negs can donate to everyone, but can only receive blood and tissue from other O Negs.
